After working at U Motors for several years, Cale Arneson purchased the family business in 2011. Throughout the years, Arneson and his wife Jill have expanded their powersports and marine product lines, built a second dealership on Pelican Lake and purchased a third in Detroit Lakes. Between the three U Motors locations, they now offer Honda, Yamaha, Can-Am, Ski-Doo, SSR and Kawasaki for on and offroad powersports. Their marine product lines include Sea-Doo, Yamaha Waverunners, Nautique, Supra, Supreme, Avalon Pontoons and recently acquired Centurion Boats.
None of this would have been possible without the help of Nate Harms. He started working at U Motors at the age of 14, washing motorcycles and sweeping the shop. Over the years, he worked his way into the sales department and is now the General Manager of all three U Motors locations.
U Motors is dedicated to supporting the communities of all three of its locations. Every year they bring interns in from the surrounding technical schools and usually have the opportunity to bring them on full-time. They support numerous powersport events annually with sponsorships, individual motocross riders and several non-profit events. They are most proud of the scooter runs they have hosted over the years for charity. This year, they will host Scooters for Tumors on July 17 and 100% of profits will go to Pray for Gray, North Dakota’s only brain tumor nonprofit and the one closest to our hearts.
“We are a small family business with big dreams. In the last few years we have grown in ways that we have never thought possible, however, we continue to place the highest priority on our customers and the relationships that we have built along the way. The powersports community grows every day and the opportunity to be immersed in it as our profession is something that we refuse to take for granted,” Arneson said.
