Owners Alex & Rebecca Rydell
With over a century of service in the FargoMoorhead community, Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home has been a cornerstone of compassion, care, and respect since the 1920s. Located on Seventh Street South across from Island Park, their warm, chapel-style facility can seat up to 250 guests and includes a welcoming reception hall for food and fellowship.
Owners Alex and Rebecca Rydell took the helm in 2024, carrying forward a legacy built by O.J. Hanson, J.D. Runsvold, Jim Runsvold, Neal Bradburn, and John and Cydney Runsvold. Alex—a Fargo native, licensed funeral director, musician, and community leader—has guided families since 2007 with empathy and purpose.
Their skilled team includes licensed funeral directors Jacques Boucher, Simone Coplin (also a Certified Companion Animal Death Doula and Certified Preplanning Consultant), Brett Peterson, and Miranda Lavelle, along with dedicated staff Sandy Lytle, Mary Frances Flatt, Vince Dicks, Keith Kilber, Kay Jastram, Carol Staiger, Julie Staigle, Wendy Iwerks, and their Funeral Celebrant Pat Ellison. Every member brings a deep commitment to personalized services—from traditional and cremation options to tribute videos, livestreaming, and heartfelt grief support.
As proud community members, they partner locally with Hope Blooms for flower repurposing and host weekly grief support groups led by Wendy Iwerks to nurture healing long after the service concludes.
At Hanson-Runsvold, they’re more than funeral professionals—they’re your neighbors. With integrity, smalltown values, and genuine compassion, Alex, Rebecca, and the entire team are honored to guide families through life’s hardest moments and help them look toward the future with hope.
