Founded by “Happy” Harry Gershman, the business has grown from a single store in downtown Grand Forks to five locations across Fargo and Grand Forks, with over 120 dedicated employees.
In 2015, Happy Harry’s became a 100% employee-owned business, thanks to the generosity of the Gershman family. This ownership model ensures that every employee is invested in providing world-class service and selection to customers.
Giving back is one of Happy Harry’s core values. In 2023, they donated to and supported over 170 different groups and organizations in Fargo, Grand Forks, and the surrounding tri-state area. They are also proud Title Sponsors of over 10 major events throughout the year in the Red River Valley.
Their dedication to excellence has earned them numerous accolades, including being named “One of America’s Ten Best” by Beverage Dynamics Magazine, receiving the “Market Watch Leader Award,” and being voted “Best Liquor Store” by the readers of the Fargo Forum and the Grand Forks Herald multiple times.
