Staff & Volunteers For over 40 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of the Red River Valley has provided comfort and support for families with sick children receiving medical care in Fargo. Over 800 families each year enjoy all the comforts of home—private guest suites, home-cooked meals, laundry facilities, fitness equipment, a playroom, and more. Most importantly, families benefit from a caring staff, dedicated volunteers, and the chance to connect with others facing similar challenges. Thanks to a generous community, families are able to stay at no cost. While guests can contribute toward their stay if they are able—in 2023, 91% of families paid nothing, which allows them to focus entirely on getting their child healthy instead of the financial burden of receiving medical care miles from home. Besides their 24-room Ronald McDonald House, RMHC operates the Ronald McDonald Family Room within the NICU at Essentia Health which includes access to a kitchenette, shower, and respite area.
