At Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity, they believe that everyone deserves a decent, and affordable, place to live. This belief has driven their staff, and over 10,000 volunteers, to help change the lives of nearly 400 people through the construction of 72 simple, decent, and affordable homes.

Habitat homes are life-changing and have positive effects on nearly every aspect of a family’s life, but they are not free. All Habitat homeowners contribute hundreds of hours of sweat equity, building their own homes and other homes. They also complete Habitat’s award-winning homeownership course and repay the cost of their homes through an incomebased mortgage. Their payments are used to help sustain Habitat’s mission and build future homes.

In addition to providing affordable homes, an important part of their mission is the ReStore—a building materials thrift store that serves over 19,000 customers a year, many of whom are low-income and rely on ReStore to improve their homes.

Lake Agassiz Habitat for Humanity’s core belief is helping families build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter in the FM area, which they have done since 1991.
