Meet the Faces of Sugar Tech & Vocational Trades: American Crystal Sugar Company

//

Ben Doyle & Eric Wagner

American Crystal Sugar Company significantly affects the region’s economic landscape. The company works with 2,600 Red River Valley sugarbeet growers, processing and marketing its products to the nation’s largest food brands—including Hershey’s, Kraft, and Kellogg’s, to name a few.

That success is only possible because of the nearly 2,000 employees at seven locations who are constantly transforming the company. Two of the company’s greatest advocates are Ben Doyle and Eric Wagner.

As you can imagine, the technology required to support a leading agricultural/manufacturing operation is enormous. Steering that ship is Eric Wagner, the director of IT.

“My team loves to build and create,” Wagner says. “Their solutions keep this company on the leading edge of the nation’s sugar stage.”

Ben Doyle, the director of workforce development, travels the tri-state area singing the praises of other American Crystal career paths.

“People think you need a university degree to have a fulfilling career. We present another choice. Because we continually invest in developing employees, there are endless opportunities for vocational-minded people to advance,” Doyle says.
