Meet the Faces of Data Center: Dakota Carrier Network

Dakota Carrier Network was founded in 1996 by 13 of North Dakota’s independent broadband companies and cooperatives who came together to offer services to larger, geographically diverse customers that each of them could not serve on their own. Today DCN provides services to commercial entities like banks and hospitals, as well as state government, K-12 schools, and higher education.

One service offered by DCN is data centers, which help customers protect themselves from not only hackers but other natural disasters and unexpected events. The DCN data center is a “Fort Knox” for keeping customers’ data protected. Built to withstand EF4 tornado-force winds, the center is a carrier-grade hardened facility with a power supply backed up by generator and battery plants. All of these features combined help ensure 99.999% network uptime so customers can always access their data.

In addition to being a great place to do business, DCN is a great place to work. DCN and its owner companies proudly serve nearly 400 communities throughout North Dakota with more than 1,000 employees in every corner of the state.
